Milestones

The founder of China Mountain Development, Wei Qinghua, has been engaging in ski racing and ski tourism since 1992. He has participated in and taken charge of the planning and design, development and construction, as well as the operation and management of multiple large-scale ski tourism projects, which laid a solid professional foundation for the brand of China Mountain Development. With the joint efforts of all staff, the company has achieved rapid development, acquired outstanding performance and established a new benchmark for the ski service industry. While continuing to obtain tremendous achievements, China Mountain Development never ceases to explore deep into the sector, sparing no effort to facilitate the development of the skiing cause and the ski industry.

-         1992: A Newborn Sapling, Nurtured Deep in the Mountains

The Yabuli Ski Resort, located at a remote area in Zhangguangcai Mountain, is the cradle of China’s ski industry. Most of the entrepreneurs led by Wei Qinghua, who established China Mountain Development, started their careers here. They built a solid foundation working in grass-roots positions such as field management, cableway operation, electromechanical engineering, catering, administration, human resource, etc., and further improved their capabilities in the bidding and preparation work of the 3rd Asian Winter Games. Deeply rooted in Yabuli Ski Resort, the epitome of competitive skiing in China, the newborn sapling is gaining strength for its rapid growth in the future.

-         1996: The Best of All, with a Pioneering Spirit

The 3rd Asian Winter Games held in 1996 provided a golden opportunity for the kickoff and development of China’s ski tourism. Immediately after the games, Wei Qinghua and some others initiated and established the company out of their business acumen, starting to engage in business in the ski industry with the Yabuli Ski Resort as space and platform. Years of operation had brought huge economic profits, as well as a new level of knowledge and understanding of the ski industry. Back then, it was an innovative move to be the first to consider skiing as an industry and put it into practice within the system of the General Administration of Sport of China. Born with a strong character, the sapling seized the best opportunity of the time, grew against the wind and snow, and surpassed all its peers.

-         2001: To the Capital, Developing Nanshan Ski Village from Scratch

After the ten years of trials and hardships experienced at the Yabuli Ski Resort, the essence of ski racing and ski tourism had become inherent skills possessed by Wei Qinghua and the other core leadership. Inspired and impelled by Dr. Lu Jian, a pioneer of China’s ski tourism, Wei Qinghua led his team and moved southbound from Hei Longjiang to Beijing. There, they dedicated themselves to the development and construction, as well as the operation and management of Nanshan Ski Village, laying the foundation for its unparalleled success in the capital’s skiing circle afterward. It was a period in which the sapling had grown in the North, while the pioneers revolved to take root in Nanshan and develop from scratch.

-         2003: To the Woods of Chongli, Developing Wanlong from Wilderness

Situated among the Damaqun Mountains to the northwest of Beijing, Chongli has ski resources of strategic significance and a huge potential for development. In response to the invitation of Luo Li, the Chairman of Wanlong Ski Resort, Wei Qinghua led the core members of his team and moved to Chongli. After eight wonderful years of efforts and enthusiasm devoted to the construction and operation of Wanlong Ski Resort, they eventually made it a model in China’s skiing circle. It was a period when the company returned to the wilderness, striving for a promising achievement by developing Wanlong.

-         2010: With Luxuriant Branches, Building a Dream at Genting

The project of Genting Resort Secret Garden had the standards and setups of the international level. One of its ultimate objectives was to bid for and host the Winter Olympics. Genting Resort Secret Garden was an upgraded version of Chongli’s ski industry. The wise were never afraid of taking on responsibilities. When the construction was first started, Wei Qinghua received the instructions from Datuk Lim Chee Wah of Genting Group to take overall charge of the ski resort, promoting in a comprehensive way the construction and operation of the ski resort, as well as facilitating the bidding for the Winter Olympics at the corporate level. It was the prime time for luxuriance, a propitious sign for building a dream at Genting.

-         2012: Turning Woods into Forests, the Founding of China Mountain Development

Through twenty years of professional experience, Wei Qinghua and the core members of his team had cultivated the abilities and strength to undertake important tasks. The ultimate goal and pursuit for people in the skiing circle are to exercise their talent and contribute to the bidding for and the hosting of the future Winder Olympic Games. With seizing the opportunity of the Winter Olympics as the main appeal, Wei Qinghua acted as the main initiator, led the core members of his team, and established China Mountain Development (Beijing) Investment Consultation Co., Ltd., embarking on a new journey in their careers. As woods are turned into forests, it marks the right time to start China Mountain Development.

-         2014: Full Case Planning, from Trees to Forests

The specialization of the planning and design of ski resorts was an inevitable demand for the development of China’s ski industry. With the increasing number of ski resort planning projects and the increasingly higher requirements for professional planning and design in the skiing circle, establishing a professional planning and design company had become a realistic choice, hence China Mountain Development Mountain Tourism Planning and Design Co., Ltd., which was committed to becoming the best ski resort planning and design company in China, emerged in Zhangjiakou. The company conducted full case planning, paying attention to not only the obvious but also minor details. Trees make up the forests.

-         2015: Growing into a Huge Tree, the Pillar of the Industry

It was one of China Mountain Development’s historical missions to provide full technical support to the Genting Resort Secret Garden, the city of Zhangjiakou and the Beijing Winter Olympics Bidding Committee with the bidding for the 2022 Winter Olympics at different times. Years of unremitting assistance with the bidding for the Winter Olympics by the team of China Mountain Development under the leadership of Wei Qinghua yielded tremendous achievements. Beijing and Zhangjiakou won a joint bid for hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics. The company and relevant individuals won commendation and recognition from Beijing Winter Olympics Bidding Committee for this matter.

The same year, together with Carving Ski and other enterprises as well as natural persons, China Mountain Development funded the establishment of Beijing Antaeus Ski Resort Investment & Management Co., Ltd. which was committed to becoming the best professional company in the development and construction, operation and management, marketing and planning, as well as education and training among China’s skiing circle, and promoting the healthy development of the ski industry. The company had grown into a big tree. With all its achievements, it had become the pillar of the industry.

-         2017: Remaining Committed to its Mission, Deeply Rooted in China

“Striving for remarkable accomplishments in China’s ski industry” has remained the unchanged mission of China Mountain Development. While it is proactively involved in the preparations for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, China Mountain Development also keeps an eye on the Greater Khingan Range and the Lesser Khingan Range in Heilongjiang, the Changbai Mountain Range in Jilin, the Arxan Mountain in Inner Mongolia, the Taihang Mountains and the Lüliang Mountains in Shanxi, Mount Taibai in Shaanxi, Mount Liupan in Ningxia, as well as the Mount Tianshan and the Altai Mountains in Xinjiang. The company pays close attention to areas rich in ski resources. It also conducts resource evaluation and planning of large-scale ski tourism regions in China. Honors Received

In 2014, Wei Qinghua, the Chairman of the company, was appointed a Distinguished Senior Consultant by the Winter Olympics Bidding Committee of Zhangjiakou.

In 2015, Wei Qinghua, the Chairman of the company, was awarded a Certificate of Honor by the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Bidding Committee in recognition of the positive contributions he made to the bidding for the 24th Winter Olympics.

In 2015, China Mountain Development received a letter of gratitude from the members of the 2022 Winter Olympics Bidding Committee, thanking the company’s and the Chairman Wei Qinghua’s major contributions to the bidding for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

The Overall Planning and Design of Mount Song Peak International Skiing Base project completed in 2015 by China Mountain Development Mountain Tourism Planning and Design Co., Ltd. in Zhangjiakou won the 2017 Excellent Special Planning and Design Award in the 2017 Excellent Planning and Architectural Design Program of China’s Characteristic Towns - Beautiful Countryside.

It is a comprehensive tourist resort operating all year round with a combination of skiing, mountain sports and leisure holidays.

4、Laiyuan Qishan Ski Resort

With building “ecological Laiyuan and cultural Qishan, as well as a famous ski spot and holiday paradise” as its gist, this project centers on ski tourism, outdoor sports, leisure holidays, agritourism and cultural tourism. This ski area and its complementary counterparty, the Baishi Mountain Scenic Area, are intended to be built into ecological, cultural and sports tourism destinations in the west of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, as well as the best ski resort to the southwest of Beijing and a model of China’s urban park tourist resort for all seasons. The resort would create approximately a hundred tourist activities of sixteen product series in five themes: ice and snow entertainment, outdoor recreation, quality holidays, humanistic life, as well as agricultural science and technology, which would greatly enrich the product content of the resort.

Liu-p’an Mountains Ski Resort in Jingyuan County

With building “a Great Wall of ice and snow, a kingdom of snow mountain en route of the Long March, a colorful Jingyuan and a dazzling pearl along the ancient Silk Road” as its planning concept, this project is aimed to build a comprehensive holiday destination with multiple functions including ski resort, rural tourism, ecotourism, sports and fitness, cultural tourism and business leisure. This project fully integrates the natural landscapes, history and culture of the Hui people, sightseeing agriculture and other tourism resources in its surrounding areas, so as to build a multi-functional and composite regional cluster of tourist areas. In this way, it would activate the economic vitality of Xingsheng Town, give impetus to the development of the tourism economy in Jingyuan County and even Guyuan City, as well as promote the transformation of the regional industrial structure and the sustainable development of social economy.

6、Daihai International Ski Resort in Inner Mongolia

The project is aimed at building a comprehensive holiday destination centering on hot spring holidays, ski holidays, Zen tourism, recreational sports and ecotourism, making it a demonstration area for the development of the ski industry in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the largest hot spring ski holiday destination in North China, and a model of all-season tourist resort in China.

7、Jinshanling Ski Tourism Resort

Project location: Luanping County, Hebei Province

This project adheres to the planning concept of “combining ice and snow with a focus on snow activities” and “combining activity and tranquility with a focus on activity”. With the ski town as its carrier, ski tourism as the forerunner, ski holidays and outdoor sports as the core, and tourism real estate development as the business model, the project is aimed to build a ski tourism resort of international standard integrating traveling, vacationing, leisure sports and ecological residence. The planning is structured as “a chain held together by a string of beads with an axis”: the small river in the valley was the axis, along which countryside villas, stylish towns, leisure sightseeing agriculture, the outdoor sports zone and the main ski area formed the chain.
